The biggest challenge in designing a compact flugelhorn has always been the bell. Traditional flugelhorn bells have a wide, fat taper that simply can’t be wrapped into a tight layout. Taylor’s solution was to design a radically new bell taper that keeps the large “fat end” where the tone is generated while slimming down the middle section.
The result is extraordinary:
- Easier to play than a regular flugelhorn
- Faster, more immediate response
- Still capable of that classic fluffy, sweet flugelhorn tone
