Yamaha believes that musical kids are happy kids.

A new initiative from Yamaha is designed to get more children learning to play a musical instrument. The ‘START SMALL DREAM BIG’ web pages combine tips for parents, useful information on choosing the right instrument, details of Yamaha Music Schools and on-line learning resources, plus a ‘First Month Free’ offer on selected student instrument rentals.

Sure to be of particular interest to parents, the campaign also draws on findings from the World Health Organisation and Yamaha’s own research conducted with the Keio University in Tokyo to highlight the Top Five proven health, happiness and developmental benefits that come with learning to play an instrument.

There’s also a focus on fun, with inspiring stories from leading artists including Jamie Cullum and YolanDa Brown about their own musical journeys, the friends they’ve made along the way and what it feels like to nurture your talent, collaborate with other musicians and connect with a global audience.

Commenting on behalf of Yamaha, Leanne Barrell says “As the world’s leading instrument manufacturer, it’s obviously in Yamaha’s interest to get more young people playing. But as musicians ourselves, we know just how enriching an experience it is to play music, and we want to make it as easy as possible for parents to get their children involved.”

The campaign covers a full range of instruments from traditional band and orchestral, through pianos and keyboards to guitars and drums, with full details available at uk.yamaha.com/startsmalldreambig
